What input format(s) can my templates be in?

Docmosis templates can be created using:

  • Microsoft Word to create templates in DOCX format
  • LibreOffice Writer to create templates in ODT format

To ensure as accurate transformation as possible, from template to generated document, we advise using the correct editor to create the corresponding template format.

Note: The nature of DOCX/ODT files is that internally they are actually use XML to capture and encode the layout and formatting of the document. Typically other word processing applications (eg: Google Docs that can export to DOCX) or services that convert between formats (eg: from PDF to DOCX) will generate XML that is subtly different from what Microsoft or LibreOffice would produce natively.  DOCX and ODT files that are created in this manner will typically perform poorly as templates.
