Example Renewal Notice

A one-page template that generates a compact one-page renewal notice.

All the information shown is laid out using one large table that fills the entire page.

Page Size: A4

This template uses:

1) Tables

An inner table is used to control all the repeating elements being the:

  • the number of drivers on the policy
  • number of policy benefits given
  • number of discounts provided

Choose to View Gridlines within the template to see the underlying structure of the tables.

The inner table has the provision to grow down-the-page to accommodate 8 more items (drivers, policy benefits or discounts) than already shown.

The <<rr_ directive is used to show the named drivers on the policy.

For further information on using tables see Table – Part One.

2) Range Specifiers

Use of the concise [*] notation to display “all” policy benefits as a bulleted list.

3) Conditional Sections

Use of <<cs_hasDiscounts>> to show discounts only if they are applicable to the customer.

For further information on using conditional sections see Conditional Sections and Conditional Sections 2

4) Repeating Sections

Use of <<rs_ to show all the discounts that apply to the policy holder.

Note how the details associated with each discount are aligned using Left and Right Tab Stops in the Ruler.

For further information on using repeating sections see Repeating Sections.

5) Design Techniques

Use of various style techniques to produce a nice-looking professional document.

For example:

  • Cursive font
Use of the cursive Alex Brush font to generate the impression of a “handwritten” signature.

  • Shaded Table Cells
Bold white text on shaded table cells to highlight key information.
